Suddenly, it seems that everybody is on the Christmas countdown. This means that soon, the decorations will be in the shops. Adverts will be on TV. Even worse – songs will be on the radio! Don’t Buy A New Tree – Give Yours A Makeover

If you have a tree that you’ve had for a few years, chances are, it’s starting to look a little worn around the edges. If it’s thinning and you’re thinking of buying a new one, wait! Grab some green tinsel the same color as your tree, and see if you can fill it out. Strategically placing green tinsel in the gaps will make it look much thicker, and you can then go on and decorate it as normal.

Make Your Own Decorations

Why not make your own decorations, rather than buying more? If you’re planning on baking gingerbread men and other sweet treats, bake a few extra. Then you can use a special coating to harden them and make them last for years. You can go on to make baubles and even fireplace decorations with these! You can see the ones I made here.

Make A List And Check It Twice

Make a list of things you plan on buying, and work out how much you think you’ll be spending. Check this twice to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything important – a bit like Santa Claus. Doing some of the hard work in advance will allow you to sail into Christmas stress free with a smile on your face.

You Don’t Have  To Stick To Tradition

Some families are so caught up in sticking to tradition, not because they want to, but because they feel obliged. You should never feel obliged to stick to a tradition, especially if it’s stopped being fun. If you ‘always’ have dinner at home but you’re getting sick of the cost and clean up, you could suggest a family Christmas meal at a restaurant. Stay at home rather than going to see a Christmas production. Make new traditions! You don’t need to do the same thing year after year. Where’s the fun in that?

Ask Stores To Wrap Your Gifts

Instead of wrapping your gifts yourself the day before, ask stores to wrap your gifts. Some may not advertise that they do this, so double check. Many do it for free, so it can save you a lot of time and effort!

Pack Up The Clever Way

Take your time packing up and you’ll make it easy for yourself to unpack year after year. You can use coat hangers to easily store your Christmas lights without them getting tangled. You can even use paper cups and egg cartons for your decorations.

Just Have Fun
Christmas should be about having fun with the people you love, so don’t stress. It’ll be over before you know it, so there’s no point pulling your hair out over it. Just enjoy time off with your loved ones!
