Broaden Your Horizons
One of the most stressful points of the house move is finding a house. Finding the right house in the current climate can be an extraordinary challenge.
It has been the case that buyers seem to aim lower to avoid disappointment. Nowadays though this has started to see some progressive change. While in past years, buyers were looking at houses that were of a certain age, it seems that now, buying a newly built home is becoming popular. The reason for the popularity tends to revolve around the speed a move can happen.
As a buyer, you still, of course, have to go through the mortgage process. The rest of the process is made far easier as the checks on the property are reduced exponentially. Also there is not going to be the possibility of an upward chain.
Taking a step towards buying a newly built house not only reduces stress, but it can also be a sound investment. Newly built homes tend to show a more significant percentage value increase than older properties.
Decorate Before Anything Else
One of the most stressful things about moving house is generally the decorating. Decorating the new home can be exhausting. This exhaustion comes as it usually happens right after you have moved all of the boxes.
The moving process for most is backwards nowadays. It is essential to realise the amount of stress that is caused by decorating while being surrounded by your unpacked belongings.
The most advisable thing to do is decorate on the day you get your keys. If you can do this before any of your belongings have even made it to the house, you will find your stress levels are significantly reduced.
It is important to remember that having all of your belongings dashed around your home creates an unnecessary clutter, clutter increases stress, and this is something you do not want.
Get In The Know
If there is one small thing you can do to eliminate stress when moving home, it is to get to know as much as you can about your new area.
It is always great to know where the shops are, what time they are open until and it’s a great idea to get to know your new neighbours too.
Moving into a new house can often throw surprises into the mix that you didn’t expect. You never know when you may need a torch, some batteries or even a cup of sugar.
There is nothing worse than feeling like a stranger in your new home, so becoming familiar with as much as you can is one of the most effective things you can do to alleviate potential stress.
