There is a great deal of focus these days on being more environmentally friendly. Indeed, with more and more advanced gadgets coming out every year, it is both fun and productive to keep an eye out for products that can help us simplify our lives and maximize our eco-friendly lifestyle. Whether you tend to do your shopping at the nearest electronics store, or browsing online, you can probably find a number of brand new ways to implement a conscious lifestyle that will fit around you and your family.

In addition to looking for products that benefit you through organization, entertainment, added efficiency, etc., it is also important to keep an eye out for some of the more responsible gadgets on the market – specifically, those that contribute to environmental efforts. Eco-friendly policies and practices are becoming more popular all over the world, and there are now various fun technological products that help to save energy, preserve resources, and generally contribute to environmentally responsible efforts. Here are a few specific products to be aware of.

Switch to Natural Chemicals for Cleaning

There are loads of alternatives you can use to clean at home that will be healthier for you and the environment. You can get eco-friendly laundry balls for your washing machine/tumble dryer that not only save money but also keep you system from clogging up with detergent too.

Improve Your Water Pressure

Improving your water pressure means more powerful showers, but this doesn’t mean sacrificing your shower’s eco-friendly status. An efficient shower pump will reduce the amount of energy required to heat up your water supply while using less water in the process. Stuart Turner pumps are primarily used for boosting water pressure in a home, as well as improving energy efficiency. The Water Pebble

You’ve probably heard that one of the simplest and most important environmental efforts you can make is reducing water consumption. However, once you’re in the shower it can be hard to tell yourself to stop. The Water Pebble is a small electronic device that is designed to track your shower time and water consumption and alert you when it’s time to get out of the shower. You simply place it near the drain in your shower, and it does the work, communicating to you through lights when it’s time to stop showering.

Battery Chargers

Not long ago, rechargeable batteries were significantly more expensive, and most people didn’t bother. However, battery chargers are more affordable now, and can be used for a wider variety of batteries. When thrown away, used batteries have the potential to release harmful materials into the environment, and can have negative effects on the surrounding eco-systems. Using a battery charger keeps you from having to throw out as many used batteries, negating a large portion of this harmful waste. Plus, it saves you money!

Solar Chargers

If like most people you have at least a couple of electronic gadgets that you use on a day-to-day basis (mobile phone, iPod, etc.) a solar charger could save a great deal of energy. Generally, these chargers are small panels that you can place in a sunny spot, allowing them to absorb energy. You can then attach them to your electronic products to transfer that energy into a usable charge, instead of using a traditional electronic outlet. Solar chargers are very affordable and  are ultimately very responsible accessories for your daily use of electronics.

What changes will you be making this year?

A recent study from Deep Freeze revealed that 26 per cent of pregnant women exercise twice a week, with a further 16 per cent exercising once a week. However, of the 36 per cent of those who choose not to exercise, 20 per cent choose not to due to back pain. I am one of those that have suffered back pain during pregnancy and now in my third pregnancy it’s made a return sooner.

During pregnancy I don’t like to take too many tablets (and pretty much thats just paracetomol you can take without consulting a medical team). Deep heat sent me some of their cold patches to see if they could help ease those muscular aches and pains without having to resort to painkillers. The Deep Freeze Pain Relief Cold Patch offers initial, effective drug-free pain relief from muscular back pain during pregnancy*, just like an ice pack, and provides long-lasting cold analgesia to the site of pain. The adhesive patch is applied simply and easily, and can be worn without restricting movement or needing to be replaced frequently to maintain the cooling effect. Deep Freeze Pain Relief Cold Patches are great news for muscular back pain during pregnancy.
deep freeze pic 2 I have just started an online pilates course to help with pregnancy aches. As it’s more relaxing then other forms of exercise it feels easier on my joints and hips however I am quite thankful it’s now the summer holidays! Our walk to and from school is a 5 mile trip there and back and for us means an uphill walk on the way back with Froglet in the buggy and Fizz’s various school items/packed lunch or a small food shop underneath. You can probably see why at 20 weeks pregnant I am starting to struggle with back pain. Add into having a very active and adventurous 1 year old and the strain on my back means that I limit activity and can’t baby wear as often as I want to.

As I near the end of the second trimester (I’m in week 24 now) I am finding that alternating days and a laze in the bath at the end of the day really do help ease joint pain. The Deep Freeze Pain Relief Cold Patch helps during the day too. All I have to do is pop it on under my clothes to work it’s magic. In fact after being sent a pack to review I was very please to see this in my Project B box today too!
