Saturday Soundtrack

This weeks soundtrack belongs to Jess! Jess blogs about life, love, motherhood and anything else which captures her interest. This week she’s mostly enjoying retro crime drama, warm jumpers and jaffa cakes.

#1. The Seeds You Sow – Prides

To my mind it is never not a good time to listen to Prides. They’re a Glasgow based synth-pop band destined for great things! (Not least because I said so.) I even bought their album, on CD no less, because they’re that good and it was on offer for cheaper than the download.

#2. In Love With The 80s (Pink Tux To The Prom) – Relient K.

It’s the 90s that are cool again now but I always like to be different. My (music loving) heart is always stuck in the ‘80s, so this tune is a winner. It’s cute, and fun, and kind of like a John Hughes movie in lyrical form.

#3. Silver Moon – Donkeyboy.

These Norwegian synth-poppers are amazing. It sounds weird but the best word I can use to describe their music is ‘twinkly’. Silver Moon is my favourite track, it makes me want to get up and get things done. And dance around the living room.

#4. To Cut A Long Story Short – Spandau Ballet.

Back to the actual 80s for this choice. I love to sing along to this one; the worse my singing is, the more I (and, doubtless, my neighbours) enjoy the experience.

#5. The Future’s So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades) – Timbuk 3.

The great thing about Saturday is that it’s so full of potential. It’s the weekend; you can do anything, go anywhere, be anything. This song embraces all that. Then it, like Saturday, is over and suddenly it’s Sunday, and it’s just a cold, dark countdown until you go back to work on Monday…
