The next few weeks I have asked some of my lovely blogger friends to choose their favourite christmas tracks in a bit of a Saturday soundtrack christmas special. Today Jo is taking over.
I’m a big fan of Christmas – have been ever since I can remember. I have such fond memories of dancing around the Christmas tree as a little girl whilst helping my parents to put the decorations up. I’ve recently had a baby boy and whilst he isn’t aware it’s Christmas yet, I certainly am, and I can’t wait to carry that tradition on with him. Here’s the low down of my top 5 Christmas songs:
Maria Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You
This is my favourite Christmas song by far, I LOVE IT. I can’t even explain why but it just has everything that a Christmas song should in my opinion. I don’t think anything will ever knock this off top spot for me.
Dominick The Donkey
Now not many people will have heard of this one. I first heard this played on Radio One a few years ago and it made me laugh so much. I tune in to the radio station every year in December just to hear this being played.
Spice Girls – 2 Become 1
I was a huge fan of the Spice Girls growing up and I was so pleased they made it to Christmas Number 1 with this song. Whilst the lyrics aren’t strictly Christmas related it still brings back fond memories of Christmas as a teenager.
Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody
A good old classic and one that I’m sure most people love. You’ll probably hear this played on repeat in every department store this December but it never bores me. When I think of Christmas this is the first song that pops into my head.
Wham – Last Christmas
I got a keyboard for Christmas when I was 10 and this was the demo song on there. Whenever family or friends would come over I’d put the demo on and pretend that it was me playing it. Looking back on it I don’t think I fooled anyone but I thought I did at the time. I still think about that keyboard every time I hear this song.
