We were lucky enough to be invited along to The Giggling Squid in Brighton to try out their new Christmas menu. The Giggling Squid is in the heart of Brighton Lanes and in a quirky building. It has small seating areas so there are a maximum of 4 tables in each area so it is quite an intimate setting but we understand it can cater for a larger party too on request.
We booked a Thursday evening and all the tables were full. I would book in advance to avoid being turned away (that happened to at least 3 parties during our visit).
We started with a bottle of house wine and their delicious bags of gold. These arrived with spicy prawn crackers and accompanies with a sweet chilli style dip. The bags of gold were a lovely starter. Gav had the Pork Lamb which was a bit too spicy for me!
For my main I tried their Salmon Red Curry. This is really a stand out dish full of flavour and the salmon was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed this dish and would order this again. Gav had the crispy chicken stir fry which again was yummy but I think the Salmon won this for me.
For dessert I ordered the cheesecake which unfortunately was very frozen and so I struggled to eat this. Gav went for the malted honey comb which he said was really tasty.
The Christmas menu at the Giggling Squid costs £29.95 which I think was really good value. The starter and the main were fantastic and I have to say that I would recommend trying this alternative Christmas menu in Brighton.
We were given a complimentary meal at The Giggling Squid in exchange for an open and honest review.
