When Fashion World offered to update my wardrobe ready for summer I thought about how as a mum I haven’t purchased any new summer clothes for a long time!
It made me think about what I needed to update and what I could use again moving into summer. I am definitely starting to fall into the preppy mum look (striped top, jeans and converse) and wanted my summer wardrobe to have some versatility without being a slave to fast fashion. I wanted it to be long lasting and stylish without being set in a trend. Also wanted something that I can grab and go for a day trip or an evening out!
When I was looking for outfits my footwear is the first thing I consider. I live in Converse trainers during the Spring and Autumn and then a pair of Dr Martnes Chelsea Boots for winter months. Summer has to be a good sandal and I definitely didn’t want a pair that would last 5 minutes. I opted for a silver pair of Birkenstock Gizeh as the look stylish but the silver gives a glam day look!
I don’t think any of us can go wrong with a black maxi dress. Most maxi dresses flatter a variety of shapes and sizes. I didn’t want to opt for a strapless one so went for a wrap style as that suits my shape and flatters it.
To top off my outfit I grabbed a pair of oversized sunnies and treated myself to a pedicure. My top tip for summer is to go for a shellac pedicure that will last around 4 weeks. I tend to go for a pale colour as I feel they look quite classic. I am also considering an eyelash tint so that my look is literally and 5 minutes and go one. I do believe in keeping it simple and feeling comfortable.
I’d love to hear about your summer wardrobe and what new things you’ll be popping into it!
