Get Your Home Ready for Spring

Aside from the occasional heavy bluster of wind, it’s hard not to notice that the weather is generally improving out there. The sun is beginning to shine, the birds are finding their voice again, and people are starting to emerge from their winter hibernation sessions. That’s right, spring is just around the corner! Winter has been long, but it’s still come as something of a surprise. But don’t worry, I am on hand to make sure you’re able to get up to speed and enjoy the best that spring and beyond has to offer. Here’s how….

Deep Cleaning

Aside from Christmas, we don’t put too much effort into making sure our homes are absolutely spotless during winter. And for an obvious reason! We go to work in the dark, return when it’s dark, and never have the chance to really see all those dirt marks and dust gatherings. Well that’s about to change, because the sun is coming and it’ll expose all your home’s shortcomings. Get a head start on spring by having a deep, thorough clean while the weather’s still chilly outside. And by thorough clean, we mean cleaning out all those hard to reach areas!

Spring Fun

You’re going to start using areas of your home that have been neglected for a few months, so they’ll also need a freshen up. Conservatory furniture is a wise investment, as this will become your new go to place to hang out when the sun’s nice, and it’s also likely you’ll be hosting any visitors you have there, so you’ll want it to look good.. If you’re in a new property, you might not have yet – because of the weather – thought to buy patio table and chairs, but now’s the time to do it!

And then there’s the old British warm weather pastime, a BBQ! As soon as the weather hits that balmy 15 degrees (we’re tough!), you’ll be able to wheel out the BBQ and host friends and family in your spring suitable home. Enjoy!

Subtle Changes

Winter and spring have decidedly different moods, and your home should mirror those moods. It doesn’t have to be anything too drastic; subtle changes will do. For example, switching out your dark, brooding cushions and curtains for light and bright colours will make the world of difference. It’ll naturally make your home look more welcoming and won’t have to changed out again until the clocks go back.

Fresh Look

You don’t have to get to any great lengths with your home, but the arrival is a good chance to take a look at your home with new eyes and see if there are any bigger changes that you could be making. A fresh lick of paint never hurt any property and might just give your home the boost it needs to look modern. Also, never underestimate what a reorganisation of a room’s furniture can do. It can make a room feel right like new, and all for the price of a couple of hours and a few beads of sweat.

I think some pot plants and a lick of paint is about the best I can muster here.

I’ve just bought some pots for our balcony to add a splash of colour
