Brighton Bloggers come together for Sport Relief Relay on Monday 20th January

Brighton bloggers will take part in the ‘Team Honk Bloggers Relay’ on behalf of Sport Relief on Monday 20th January. The relay started in Lands End, Cornwall, on Sunday 12th January 2014 and will finish in John O’Groats in Caithness, Scotland, on Sunday 23rd March 2014.Screen Shot 2014-01-09 at 15.14.12

The #TeamHonkRelay sees over 200 bloggers, their friends and families in a route that zig-zags up the UK taking in 38 regional teams over 9 weeks, and aims to raise over £20,000 for Sport Relief.

Participants are travelling using a huge assortment of different transportation methods, including bikes, pushchair pushes, planes, rollerblades across the Humber, boats around Bristol, #Honkopoly around London, and hiking, rafting and mountain climbing.

On Monday 20th January, Team Honk Brighton will travel the 47 miles from Worthing to Hastings. Starting off at 9am, Katrin Nash of ‘Bare Chic Blog’ (www.barechicblog.co.uk) will be running 4 miles from Worthing Pier to Saltings Roundabout in Shoreham.

At approximately 9.45am she will pass the baton to Maddie Sinclair of ‘Gammon & Chips’ (www.gammonandchips.com) and Katie Kirby of ‘Hurrah for Gin’ (www.hurrahforgin.com) who will both be travelling 2 miles from Saltings Roundabout, Shoreham to Shoreham Harbour (Shoreham Port building) pushing their children in buggies.

At approximately 10.15am they will pass the RNLI Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station and the kids from Holmbush Primary School will be there to cheer them on as they go past.

 

At approximately 10.30am they will pass the baton to Sophie Wearing of ‘Cider With Sophie’ (www.ciderwithsophie.com) who will be walking 2 miles with a buggy from Shoreham Harbour (Shoreham Port building) to Hove Lagoon.

 

At approximately 11.10am she will pass the baton to Sarah Ryman of ‘A Field Somewhere’ (www.afieldsomewhere.wordpress.com) and Maddie Sinclair of ‘Gammon & Chips’ (www.gammonandchips.com) who will be travelling the 4 miles from Hove Lagoon to Brighton Marina on Micro Scooters wearing animal fancy dress.

 

At approximately 12.45pm they will pass the baton to Di Coke of ‘Super Lucky’ (www.superlucky.co.uk) and Anya Harris of ‘Older Single Mum’ (www.oldersinglemum.com). Di will be running the 2.5 mile stretch from Brighton Marina to the Saltdean Lido wearing a ninja suit and Anya will be riding alongside on her bike.

 

At approximately 1.45pm they will pass the baton to Matt Oakley (friend of Anya Harris) who will be travelling 19 miles from the Saltdean Lido to Eastbourne Pier by bike.

 

At approximately 4.30pm he will pass the baton to Clare Levitt of ‘Little Pink Tea Cup’ (www.littlepinkteacup.com) who will be travelling 5 miles from Eastbourne Pier to Pevensey on a pimped up Lambretta.

 

The baton is expected to arrive at Hastings at around 5pm, with Team Honk Brighton handing over to Team Honk Hastings at Hastings Pier.

 

Throughout the day, Chelle McCann of ‘She Sparkles’ blog (www.shesparkles.co.uk) will be taking photos of baton changeovers, live Tweeting and interacting on Facebook.

The first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014. The public can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country, including the landmark events at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

 

As one of the biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people both at home in the UK and across the world.
