This is a guest post from a friend of mine who has been smoking for over 15 years. I am all for one to look towards healthier lifestyle changes and that covers everything from fitness to diet and incorporating self care and wellness into our daily lives. So here is why my friend is quitting cigarettes and making the switch towards vaping and then giving up smoking.

Why I am making the switch from cigarettes to vaping.

I decided to make the switch to VIP e-cigs mainly due to the rising cost, a holiday to Europe, where smoking is considerably cheaper I realised quite how much I was spending on cigarettes here in the UK, unfortunately circumstances dictate that I cannot move to Greece so I have to quit!

I’ve tried various nicotine replacement stuff over the years but nothing has worked, I think this is mainly due to not having the ‘feel’ and taste of a ciggie, also smoking is a good way to take a break from work! Vaping or an e-cigarette seemed like the best option as I’d get all of the above, without a lot of the harmful cigarettes in a ‘proper’ fag.

What were my first Impressions?

Checked the post box today and found my new starter e-cigarette pack, first impressions are very good! It’s fairly lightweight and looks like quite like a real ciggie, opened the packaging, checked the instructions and took a drag… It’s great, it actually tastes real, very excited about using this in the future!

How I am finding the difference a few days in..

It’s been a few days and things are going ok… I’m not ready to break the habit fully yet and have been carrying a pack of 10 in my handbag… Keep forgetting I have the e-cig so I’ve had 3 real ciggies today and a few drags of the e-cig.  The e-cig is really good and I have found I don’t need to have anywhere a whole cigarettes worth of drags to get that murderous ‘must have nicotine’ feeling to diminish.  Today has been an incredibly stressful day at work and I’ve found that the brand that I am using is as good, if not better than the real thing.

 

There isn’t much that children benefit more from than outdoor play and activities. And as parents, guardians, elders, and responsible adults, we should be encouraging them as much as we can to take part in playground games and outdoor activities. Instilling good playing habits in your children from a young age can have a significant impact on their physical development, helping deter them from hours spent in front of screens.


So, it’s important to encourage your kids to be active and get them outside at least once a day. There are so many benefits of outdoor activity for children, let’s take a look at some of the most common.

Develops Their Learning Abilities

Fresh air and exercise is one of the best ways for your child to develop in their learning abilities and stay ahead of their classmates. By providing educational playground games, children can learn through play, take in new information and form new skills. What’s more, children remember what they learn when they have time outside to run around and be active. And this simple daily habit can help them enhance their learning.

It’s more important than ever for children to develop independence and confidence as individuals. However, being cooped up inside all the time and not interacting with other children does not let this happen. Outdoor play and playground games encourage independence and grow confidence in children. A playground is a large open space where children are often away from direct adult supervision, allowing them to socially interact with other children and also learn to play by themselves. Playing outside teaches children how to pick themselves up when they fall, take turns in playing games, and make friends with other kids.

Explore the World Around Them

Playing outside and enjoying playground games is a fantastic way for children to discover the world around them, assess risks, and push their boundaries in a safe environment. It also teaches them to explore new things on their own, play new games, and make new friends. Outdoor play is so important for children and is definitely not something that should be overlooked.

While vaping does still give you the option of using nicotine, we’re going to be talking about the alternatives to this. Many people who start vaping are trying to wean themselves off smoking and having a nicotine-free option appeals to this demographic. Of course, you can start by having nicotine, but if you’re looking to quit smoking, it’s suggested that you slowly lower your nicotine levels with each passing week or month. As you progress, the idea is that you become less dependent on the nicotine and you’re left with e-liquids and fun flavours, or, not vaping at all.

Change Your Diet!

The NHS claims that some foods can actually make cigarettes more appealing. The main food at fault for this is meat! While it may not be in your plans to cut out meat, try and include other foods that will make you want to avoid that after-dinner cigarette, such as cheese, vegetables and fruit. Even adopting new after-dinner tasks like cleaning the dishes immediately or moving into an area where smoking is prohibited will help to quell the craving.

The same principle can be applied to drinking as well! Fizzy drinks make cigarettes taste better, so be sure to drink more water and fruit juices. When it comes to alcohol wine plays a key role in you reaching for a cigarette, so try and mix it up once in a while with something else!

Willpower!


It may sound like a cliché, but willpower is the most important point to take away from all of this. Quitting smoking is not an easy task and it isn’t something that’s just going to happen overnight. It requires dedication and a serious amount of self-control. The important thing to remember is that you do not have to tackle the journey alone! Look online for options that will suit you best and then act on them.

Combining your own willpower and the remedies and options listed above will undoubtedly help you overcome your smoking habits. And remember, the most important part of all of this is remaining dedicated!

I do love a bit of a wardrobe lift up and with Jumpsuits and playsuits making a comeback this year I was looking for something that is perfect for hiding my mum bumps but also practical for running around after the children in.

I’ve been trying out a few different designs and here is what I have found:

The structured jumpsuit – Fashion World sent me over a structured Joanna Hope jumpsuit. This came with detachable straps  so perfect if you’re worried about little hands tugging at your top. The structured top is perfect for me as I have a bigger bust so it made me feel safe. The fabric was a little heavy but I think this will be a winner on date nights. It was a classic cut and really suited my frame.

The boob tube playsuit: Rather than wear a skirt this this summer I thought that this style might suit a day time look. The jersey material is super comfy and it is easy to pull over a swimsuit if we head to the beach. It rolls small too so a perfect back up to go into a weekend away bag or beach bag.

The short playsuit: With the weather heating up and wanting to be able to run around after the kids the shorter playsuit is perfect for balmy summer days. It means that if you want to dip your feet in the sea you are totally ready too! I love the vibrant prints in the short style offerings out there. Pop a pair of leggings underneath for the cooler nights.

I do love that i have tried something new and couldn’t recommend buying a jumpsuit for the summer enough. I had thought they wouldn’t suit me before but they are so flattering and you’ll be able to find a good style for any figure type. The fact they are so practical for running about in and various adventures make them perfect for the summer months. I won’t be running around after the kids in anything else this summer! Grab a cropped denim jacket and a bright necklace for a really cool mum vibe!

 

 

I was sent two jumpsuits from the Fashion World post to review, however these words are completely my own!

Last week Fizz and I wondered into town to attend an event held at Bluebell & Co with Powell Craft. The shop is in central Brighton tucked away at the end of the Laines.  I find the shop quite relaxed and very welcoming, having visited on a few occasions for gifts there over the years. It really is a unique place to pick up gifts.

We were treated to a sneak peek at some new ranges and Fizz treated everyone to a mini fashion show. We love the individuality of the ranges stocked and Powell Craft’s new items are simply stunning! You won’t want to miss their new range when it is launched later this year. They have taken classics and given them a lovely twist, we saw some lovely chic pieces ready for Summer and Autumn.

We came home with a few lovely bargains (the shop has a whopping 50% off sale at the moment!) ready for the hot summer months. The nightwear is amazing delicate looking and light, perfect to wear as day wear too!

Fizz looked amazing in a lot of the clothes she tried on and we will be going back to collect a few more bits ready for our summer holiday.
